To commemorate the International Week of the Deaf, members of U.S. Embassy Youth Council Albania spent the day with the children from the Institute for Children with Hearing Impairment. The Youth Council members learned the basics of sign language and communicated with the children through games, songs, and dancing. It was a wonderful day and a reminder of how rich the world is for anyone who tries to see beyond our differences.
This week serves as a bridge between communities that seem to be different, but in reality are so similar. Through games, communicating, dancing with each other, we understand that the world is full of colors for those who want to see it as such beyond the inability of each of us.
We said goodbye to our young friends with the promise that we will see each other again!
