One World Week Seed Fund

About the Fund

The OWW Seed Fund is an exciting opportunity for youth organisations to explore an aspect of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to connect your work locally with issues, events and happenings globally’.

Project implementation should take place between 12th August – 20th October 2024. Successful applicants will receive a grant of up to €400 and free training with the Youth 2030 expert team to help you deliver a young person-centred project on issues relating to our global world. This funding is to support projects in the non-formal youth work education sector. Bring your ideas to life!

Who can apply?

  • Any group that works within the non-formal youth sector.

Why should I apply?

  • Receive a grant of up to €400 to explore an aspect of our global world, with a group of young people.
  • Take part in free training with the Youth2030 expert team to help you develop your own project idea.  Get curious and build confidence to talk about key issues like, the environment, the economy, technology, politics and culture with a group of young people.
  • Benefit from connections, ideas and support from the Youth 2030 team, to help you get the most out of your seed grant and bring your ideas to life!

Funding Criteria

  • OWW training is required as part of this funding (training is free). 
  • One World Week will take place online and in person in 2024, a blended approach.  As part of this grant, you will be expected to attend at least one event for OWW 2024.
  • If you are organising a local event during One World Week in your community, please send us the date, time, and location as soon as possible so that it can be advertised on our One World Week website.  
  • Please ensure visibility of your local event in local media, online and through any other promotional channels available to your group. A toolkit on working with media during OWW will be provided by NYCI to grant recipients. All publicity must include the wording “This is a One World Week Project with the support of Youth 2030 at the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI)” 
  • Please use recycled material wherever possible for arts-based activities 
  • NYCI will not fund the purchase of any materials such as T-shirts, baseball caps, etc to be used in the creation of local actions for One World Week.
  • Applications accepted from the island of Ireland only.  

What else do I need to know before I apply?

  • Your project can be stand-alone or part of a bigger project i.e., it might be part of a One World Week event. 
  • The Youth 2030 team is available to help you explore a project idea-contact us! Niamh@nyci.ie 
  • Projects should explore themes that have a social justice focus and that has both a local and a global dimension.  
  • We welcome projects that include political, economic, technological, environmental, and cultural dimensions. (We call these the five faces of globalisation). 
  • Actively make connections to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Consider the Personal, Local, National, and Global dimensions of your project – (we call these the PLiNGs!).
