Reporting to
Youth 2030 Global Youth Work Programme Manager, National Youth Council of Ireland, with overall accountability to the Director and Board of NYCI.
Location
Office base will be at 3, Montague Street, Dublin 2 with travel for work required. NYCI is currently piloting a hybrid model of working.
Hours of Work
35 hours per week (some flexibility will be required, such as evening/weekend work).
Duration
Fixed term contract to December 2026 (subject to ongoing funding).
Remuneration
€35,779 – €48,408 per annum salary range commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Annual Leave
27 days per annum.

Child Safeguarding

Role and Purpose
The Project Officer: Trainer will work as part of Youth 2030, NYCI’s Global Youth Work Programme to deliver on our Programme Outcomes, particularly Outcome 1: Global Youth Work is integrated into non-formal youth work programmes and activities of NYCI member organisations in the Youth Sector where young people are better informed and more active in helping to bring about the SDGs by 2030 and Outcome 2: Global Youth Work forms part of youth and community work professional training at Third Level.
This is a varied role requiring strong training track record, good project management skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and training experience. This is a specified purpose contract, and the successful applicant will report to the Global Youth Work Programme Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Liaise with Youth 2030 colleagues to determine training needs and design and schedule a comprehensive training programme for the youth work sector.
Plan, coordinate, design and deliver workshops and training for all levels of the youth sector.
Deliver in-person and virtual training and bespoke training as required.
Manage the training booking system and associated administration.
Devise and develop educational resources for the youth sector.
Engage and manage relationships with NYCI member organisations and the broader youth and DE stakeholders.
Work as an integral member of the Youth 2030 NYCI Global Youth Work Team to achieve our mission and play an active role in the delivery of NYCI’s Strategic Plan and Youth 2030 Global Youth Work Results Framework.
Work with the staff team to implement the monitoring and evaluation framework to effectively evaluate and measure impact.
Represent Youth 2030 externally in Global Citizenship Education arenas.
Perform any other duties which may be assigned by your NYCI line manager or Director to ensure the smooth running of services.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Attainments
Essential:
- Hold a relevant third-level qualification in Youth Work, Global Youth Work/Global Citizenship Education, Climate Justice, International Development or Education equivalent (Note: candidates with exceptional, relevant training work experience may also be considered in lieu of degree qualifications).
- Proven experience as a trainer.
Desirable:
- Other relevant educational qualifications such as Training/Facilitation/Communications.
Experience
Essential:
- 3 years post qualification working in Global Citizenship Education, Global Youth Work, training, or Youth and Community Education and learning environments.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in the devising, organising, and delivering training, CPD, and capacity building, ideally across both the formal and non-formal education sectors.
- Hands-on administration experience, planning and organising trainings and training programmes.
- Experience of designing, writing, or contributing to the development of educational resources on global justice issues and/or the Sustainable Development Goals.
Desirable:
- Experience in working directly with youth workers, youth leaders, and young people.
- Experience in the use of monitoring and evaluation tools.
- Experience in working in partnership, collaboration, and advocacy.
Knowledge, Skills and Aptitude
Essential:
- Excellent and proven organisational and time management skills and high attention to detail in managing a diverse and demanding workload.
- Have strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.
- Taking initiative – excellent ability to take initiative through acting early to address and resolve problems and find solutions.
- Excellent IT competency with Microsoft Outlook, mail, and calendars. Strong overall competency with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation.
- Ability to effectively partner and collaborate with other organisations, to maintain and build partnerships and engage in effective interagency work.
- Interest in and commitment to the values of equality, justice, and sustainability.
- Commitment to youth-led principles.
- Flexibility to work at weekends and evenings.
- Full, clean driving licence and access to car.
Desirable:
- Have an excellent working knowledge of the Youth Work Sector and Global Youth Work / Global Citizenship Education / Global Issues.
