It is no surprise that over the past 3 years, Youth workers and those working in the caregiving profession have and continue to experience stress, anxiety and burnout due to the overwhelming increase in issues surrounding the young people they work with. In addition, due to the shift in how we all work now (online V in person) there has been changes in organisational demands and requirements making it difficult for some to completely disengage and disconnect from work. With that, it has become increasingly difficult for individuals to look after their own needs and mental wellbeing, not due to the lack of resources but rather access to programmes designed to help with burnout due to financial, geographical, and bureaucratic barriers.
After speaking and listening to several youth workers, leaders and managers while attending trainings and events, The National Youth Health Programme are delighted, in partnership with The Sanctuary to host ‘How is the YOU in Youth Work’ a one day retreat.
This one-day retreat aims to engage, energise and support the wellbeing of youth workers (and those working with young people within the youth work sector) by exploring emotional regulation and helping identify triggers that results in an individual experiencing stress and/or anxiety. In addition, the retreat will then delve into the soothing systems and will support participants identify and develop skills that will support their overall wellbeing.
This one-day retreat will be a complete detox and switch off from the worries and stresses of participants personal and professional lives. There will be a strict no phone rule and comfortable clothes are advised so that participants can comfortably take part in the activities throughout the day.
Tea/coffee, snacks and lunch will be provided on the day.
