In 2023, the National Youth Health Programme in partnership with NYCI Equality and Intercultural team and As I Am, travelled across Ireland to collect and understand the needs of those working with young people who are neurodiverse.

Following from that and responding to the needs identified, NYHP are delighted to host this online webinar with As I Am, called Understanding Autism.

Come learn proactive strategies for supporting neurodiverse youth!

In this workshop, we’ll explore the core characteristics of autism and why a social model understanding is so important for creating truly inclusive spaces. Often the hardest challenges autistic children and teens face stem not from their autism itself, but society’s lack of flexibility in designing for varied needs.

AsIAm is Ireland’s Autism Charity, and are dedicated to removing the invisible barriers often faced by Autistic people and families, so that every Autistic person can enjoy the same chance in society. As I Am’s vision is for Ireland to be a country where every Autistic person is accepted as they are. Their purpose is to create an inclusive society for Autistic people that is accessible, accepting and affirming.
