The NYCI National Youth Health Programme is committed to ensure that all young people in Ireland can experience positive health and wellbeing. However, this can only be achieved if the youth worker and those working with young people are too experiencing positive health and wellbeing. We have been in touch with many of you and it is very humbling and inspiring to listen to your individual stories about how you have responded to the situation. We are very conscious that staff and volunteers are working harder and longer than ever. The normal boundaries between work and home have become much more flexible and on occasion, possibly blurred. Youth organisations are doing their utmost to provide services, interventions and supports for young people and this can take a toll on everyone.
Therefore, as part of the Building Blocks for Wellbeing initiative, the National Youth Health Programme are delighted to host, ‘How is the YOU doing in Youth Work?’.
This is a supportive online space which offers you the opportunity to stop for a moment and take stock – to give you a little time to reflect on how you are in all of this – the positives, the challenges, how you are supporting yourself and being supported – and what you would like in terms of support. There are no magic bullets or big solutions. ‘How is the YOU doing in Youth Work?’ is a facilitated space for you and your team to talk and listen, a little time for some self-care for each of you.
The content of the session is entirely confidential to the organisation.
