Youth Council Urges Over 700,000 Young People to Register to Vote Before 20th May Deadline
The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming local and European elections is today (Monday 20th May) and the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) is urging all eligible young voters in Ireland to register before today’s deadline passes. The NYCI is also highlighting the simplicity of online registration as an important factor in ensuring young voices are heard in the democratic process.
Majority of Young Irish Concerned Over Housing and Cost of Living, NYCI Report Finds
A new NYCI report conducted by IPSOS B&A, reveals that the most pressing concerns for young people in Ireland are housing and the cost of living, with 67% and 62%, respectively, citing these issues.
Youth homelessness: NYCI responds to 128% rise since Government assumed office
The latest figures for February show that the number of people aged 18-24 accessing emergency accommodation in Ireland has more than doubled since this Government took office in June 2020, and compared to February last year there has been a 14% increase.
