There are currently vacancies on the NSETS Committee in youth work practitioner category and in the youth work employer category, for which we are now seeking expressions of interest.
The North South Education and Training Standards Committee for Youth Work (NSETS) is responsible for the professional endorsement of youth work programmes on the island of Ireland.
NSETS works to ensure and promote quality standards in the education and training of youth workers through an endorsement process based on a rigorous assessment of all aspects of programme content and delivery. NSETS professional endorsement represents a formal recognition by the youth work sector that programmes of study in youth work have met prescribed criteria and are fit for purpose. The NSETS Committee consists of 16 nominated members, 8 members to represent each jurisdiction, appointed in accordance with agreed procedures North and South.
The membership from the South comprises nominees from Higher Education Institutions (2), National Youth Council of Ireland (1), Youth Work Employers (2), Youth Work Practitioners (2) and Education and Training Boards Ireland (1).
There are currently vacancies on the NSETS Committee for both seats in youth work practitioner category and for one of the seats in the youth work employer category, for which we are now seeking expressions of interest. Appointments will be made by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA).
NSETS membership is for a term of up to five years. The two appointees in the youth work practitioner category may have different terms of appointment to ensure for continuity of NSETS business, in line with its Terms of Reference.
Members of NSETS are expected to play a full and active part in the work of the committee, including participation in quarterly NSETS meetings and sub-groups and endorsement visits to institutions, when required.
