On June 1st, marked as the International Children’s Day, the Community & Social Services Department of the U.S. Embassy Youth Council Albania organised a party for the hospitalised children at the Pediatrics Department of the “Mother Theresa” Hospital in Tirana. Believing that every child deserves to celebrate this day, despite the conditions they’re in, we decided to make this day a special one for these children.
The goal of this event was to create an interactive and friendly space between the Youth Council members and the hospitalised children, through different games and activities. The members of the Youth Council spent a few hours singing, dancing and drawing with the children. Some members were dressed as Disney characters and the children were accompanied by an animator dressed as Winnie the Pooh throughout the event. For the creative kids who liked to play with colors and imagination, we did some face-painting and book-coloring.
All in all, this was a truly special day for every single one of us, knowing that we made someone happy, even if it was just for a day.
A special thanks goes to the Hospital’s staff for their assistance during the event and of course, to all our energetic youngsters who never stop trying to make this world a better place!
