Project payments of €2.5k available to each participating youth work organisation!
We are looking for partners to work with us on delivering a range of STEAM in Youth Work projects for participants 13+ all over Ireland in 2024.
The STEAM in Youth Work projects which our partners will deliver will include:
Science, Engineering or Maths
AND
Art or Technology
To support our new partners in delivering STEAM in Youth Work projects, we provide:
- payments for equipment and materials. It also covers field trips to STEAM museums, galleries, or festivals. It can include guidance from local STEAM practitioners, and other STEAM related purchases.
- offer support to help you plan, deliver, and evaluate your project. We also help you sustain it and connect with STEAM experts who could help enhance your project.
- discounts on our STEAM in Youth Work professional development opportunities.
- opportunities to showcase your work at our showcase event.
- training and resources on youth participation in your STEAM in Youth Work project.
Seven partnership opportunities are available, and we will allocate them depending on:
- Originality and scale of the project (be creative and think outside the box!).
- The role young people have played in developing the project idea.
- The young people who will benefit. Young people from groups and backgrounds that are under-represented in STEAM.
- How diverse the partners are in STEAM knowledge (some will have none some will have lots)
- The project needs clarity. Clear project aims, activities, budget, and clear outcomes / benefits for young people.
- The support that will come from the host organization and key partners. It will include in-kind administrative support and the time of youth workers.

About this STEAM in Youth Work partnership scheme
This partnership scheme aims to:
- provides young people with access to quality STEAM experiences. These occur in youth work settings. Young people feel comfortable to explore and experiment.
- strengthens the capacity and comfortability of youth work organisations to use STEAM to improve the lives of young people.
What is STEAM in Youth Work?
STEAM in Youth Work:
- is interdisciplinary (including at least science, engineering or maths and technology or art)
- is based on youth work principles and approaches
- emphasises the personal and social development of young people
- provides fresh new tools for youth workers to use
- is relevant to the daily lives of young people and captures their imaginations
- supports fun, hands-on, inquiry-based learning
- It gives young people chances to build STEAM. They can build knowledge, skills, and competences. They can then progress to other STEAM education opportunities.
- It supports a range of practice. These include electronics, robotics, and coding. They also include sustainability, ecology, botanical art, and the universe.
This initiative is a collaboration between NYCI`s STEAM Engagement programme and is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI).
